In a matter of hours the Grommesh’s south Moorhead neighborhood has been transformed from the typical all-American tree lined street to a large-scale Hollywood production.
“It got us all excited this morning, we were out on the front step with a bunch of neighbors when the trucks started showing up,” says Jeff Slaby, who lives across the street from the build site.
As soon as the Grommesh family left for their ice time at the Southwest Youth Arena, the production crew got to work. Traveling security set up at each entrance to the neighborhood. Trailers and mobile office units line the neighborhood streets and neighbors’ driveways have been transformed with wooden sub floors and tents into staging and catering areas.
All of the commotion is better described as excitement, as far as the Slaby family is concerned. Jeff and his wife Julie have lived in the neighborhood for 25 years and have gotten to know the Grommesh family, which has been across the street for a decade.
“They’re a very nice family – a very giving family,” Slaby says. “They’re out there doing things for others all the time.”
The couple says they are most looking forward to seeing the behind the scenes working of such a popular television show.
They’ll have a front row seat for all of the around the clock action. As night fell Sunday, crews set up large lights for each area of the worksite to allow crews to work overnight, safely.
